Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to the Journal of Research, Evaluation, and Assessment in Education (J-REAd) goes through a series of screening and review stages before a publication decision is made. This process is designed to maintain the scientific quality and academic integrity of every published article.

Stages of the Review Process

1.     Initial Screening The editor checks whether the manuscript matches the journal's focus and scope, whether its formatting complies with the Author Guidelines, and the results of a similarity check. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements at this stage are returned to the author without proceeding to peer review.

2.     Peer Review Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to at least two competent peer reviewers in the relevant field, using a double-blind review method — the identities of the author and reviewers are kept confidential from one another to preserve objectivity.

3.     Editorial Decision Based on the review results, the editor will issue one of the following decisions:

-      Accepted — the manuscript is suitable for publication with no or only minor revisions

-      Major Revision — the manuscript requires significant improvement and will be re-reviewed after revision

-      Minor Revision — the manuscript requires minor improvements before publication

-      Rejected — the manuscript does not meet scientific standards or does not align with the journal's focus and scope

4.     Author Revision Authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscript based on reviewer and editor feedback, accompanied by a response-to-reviewers document explaining the revisions made.

5.     Final Decision and Publication Once the revision is deemed satisfactory, the editor issues a final acceptance decision. Accepted manuscripts then undergo copyediting and layout before being scheduled for publication in the appropriate issue.

Estimated Processing Time

The following estimates are calculated from the date of submission to the final editorial decision. Duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and how quickly authors complete their revisions.
